Banksy recently outfitted a slaughterhouse truck with dozens of screaming stuffed animals for his thoroughly twisted mobile installation “Sirens of the Lambs.” The truck will be touring New York City over the next week and half or so as part of Banksy’s October street art show, “Better Out Than In.”

Farm Bailout (or Bale Out) by Maki Carvalho

Street Artist Maki Carvalho recently was inspired while driving through the rural Northeast and decided to do a takeover of hay bales. Using a large format printout of a dollar bill and some clever articulation of the “roll”, he created a giant wad of cash in the hay field.

He explains the thinking behind this sort of unconventional installation this way, “I’ve always found it funny how our government can constantly throw money at big business and “bail out” companies because of their irresponsibility. Driving though the back roads of Westport, Massachusetts I came across these hay bales and the connection immediately came to mind. Where’s the “bail out” for our hardworking, responsible, yet struggling farmers?”

Aida Gomez, who is the artist behind these, calls it: “Home is where the heart is”.

Potato Walkout by Peter Pink

Pink_01 Pink_02 Pink_03 Pink_04 Pink_05 Pink_06 Pink_07 Pink_08 Pink_09 Pink_010

Peter Pink’s art would be best described as sarcastic, humorous and keen. Moving between public installations and Street Art it’s hard to absolutely ascribe the Berlin artists work to a specific genre.

Obviously the color pink captures the spirit of his program quite nicely – it creates a recognition value and lets his work stand out from the rest. Calling himself ‘a nonsense maker’, Peter Pink, caricatures in a pink laced, humorous and unusual way our consumer society, tourists and other mass phenomena. It seems as if the physical characteristics of the edibles, such as their contour, color and texture act as a human personality awaking an unexpected sympathy for the vegetables and allowing them distinctive attributes and an anthropological quality.

Dutch artist Iepe Rubinigh and the Anonymous Crew took the term “street art” very literally with their piece Painting Reality.  The group, equipped on bicycles, purposely spilled over 130 gallons of eco-friendly water soluble paint in a Berlin’s busy Rosenthaler Platz intersection.  The cars then acted as brushes spreading the various colors through street.  An abstract painting detailing the fluid-like flow of traffic unfolded over the next several minutes and 2,000 cars.  Painting Reality introduced pleasantly bright color to otherwise drab asphalt.
