Tiger & Turtle Roller Coaster Turned Pedestrian Walkway

There comes a time when things don’t necessarily serve their original purpose any longer– and this Tiger & Turtle Magic Mountain structure is now an interesting piece to climb all over. Having Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth behind the transformation was key.
The walkable outdoor large-scale sculpture is located in Duisburg, Germany. It transitions beautifully from day to night with LED lights emitting bright light from the stair rails; making it an enjoyable walk any time of day or evening. The curved flights of stairs mimics the classical roller coaster, with the visitors climbing afoot via different paths.

Minimum Monument – Ice-men by Néle Azevedo

Wow. Such a phenomenal installation!
These Ice-Men by Brazilian artist Néle Azevedo is called ”Minimum Monument”. They were presented as part of the Festival of Queen’s in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The artwork is a collection of hundreds of carved ice-men, perched readily side by side on the steps of custom house in the city of belfast, a carefully prepared intervention that slowly thawed under the heat of the day. The project was selected by the curator of the event as a tribute to Titanic victims, the ephemeral artwork a powerful expression of the transitory nature of life, and death.

Diane von Furstenberg’s Glass Roof Penthouse Atop DVF New York Flagship Store

Fashion design company Diane von Furstenburg Studio resides in a new six story structure in New York City’s Meatpacking District. Designed by WORK Architecture, the space multi functions as the company’s flagship store, showroom and event space, administrative offices for the 120 person staff, and our favorite part the penthouse apartment sitting on the top floor.
The penthouse features its own roof top garden, an essential part of luxury living in New York; which also includes a spacious deck for lounging and entertaining purposes. A glass structure comprised of multiple triangular panes allows light to illuminate the apartment. The luxurious design elements continue throughout the penthouse, with the focal point behing the Swarovski crystal lined staircase.
