Sitting at 215 square feet, atelierd created a great looking “Bee Pavilion” in Alsace, France, with hexagonal structures. These geometric pieces are covered by a roof that allows breeze yet blocks direct sunlight out of the middle portion.

Overall, the area is dynamic – and not to mention visually stimulating. Each pod has a unique core with various textures, geometry and colors. Some are left with nothing inside so as to allow some visual transparency, and others are created with the idea of a place for the bees. Built in 2012, the home is transformable to accommodate humans that might like to repurpose some pieces as furniture and enjoy the natural buzzing surrounding the pavilion.

This “Tetra Brik” Pavilion in Spain holds the title for “The largest major construction built from recycled materials.” Utilizing 45,000 of the emptied milk cartons, World Recycling Day served multiple functions its latest time around.

Each carton was clipped to the other at a 135 degree angle, and once all of the fun of these multiple constructed pieces was done with– all 45,000 were transported and recycled. CUACS Arquitectura and plenty of student based design help was garnered within the process, to create the wall, base, and the tower to connect the two.

Shoffice by Platform 5 Architects

shoffice-1 shoffice-2 shoffice-3 shoffice-5 shoffice-6 shoffice-7

Platform 5 Architects designed this Shoffice (shed + office), a garden pavilion containing a small office alongside garden storage space. The shed/office is located to the rear of a 1950′s terraced house in St John’s Wood. The project required that the shoffice would be conceived of as a sculptural object that flowed into the garden space.

According to the architects, “The glazed office space nestles into an extruded timber elliptical shell, reminiscent of a wood shaving, and forms a small terrace in the lawn. The interior is oak lined and fitted out with a cantilevered desk and storage. Two rooflights – one glazed above the desk with another open to the sky outside the office bring light into the work space.”
