Mabe: Toy Box

Mabe - Toy box 1 Mabe - Toy box 2

Mabe is one of the largest appliances manufacturer in Southern America. They wanted to decrease their impact on the environment. So they made their boxes have a better life than in the dumpster, by introducing the Toy Box. Each box has a printed design so children can use them afterwards and let their imagination go. Ok, they are probably just postponing the problem, but the idea in general is really fun.

A Toy Train in Space

You might have seen this kind of ‘stunt’ before. But this time, the boy adds a cute layer to the idea.

On Aug 24th 2012 Ron Fugelseth and his 4-year-old son sent the son’s favorite train “Stanley” to space in a weather balloon with a HD camera and an old cell phone for GPS. He was recovered 27 miles away in a corn field.

Ron Fugelseth explains: “My 4-year-old and Stanley are inseparable like Calvin and Hobbes. He’s been attached to him since he was two, and they play, sleep and do everything together. I animated Stanley’s face with After Effects and Photoshop to bring him to life how I imagine my son sees him.”

Watch another cute video Ron made when his son was 2.

Using illusion, imagination, and narrative, his photographs explore the potential of the ordinary. Approaching his photographs with a theatrical sensibility, much like a cinematographer or set designer would. By reading the landscape and altering the vista through lights and photographic effects, he transform everyday scenes into unique images.
