This lovely summer house in Paros Cyclades (Kikladhes) Greece was designed and constructed by Alexandros Logodotis of Logodotis – Art to fit.

The house is situated in the eastern part of the island of Paros Cyclades in Greece and  has elements of traditional Cycladic architecture, such as rounded edges and organically shaped windows, with a minimally modern presentation.

The swimming pool, which is an integral part of the design, extends to the home, separated by a glass window. Reflections off the pool’s water bounces light into the home and gives it an aqua glow and a grotto-like feel. A seating area faces the glass walled end of the pool so spectators can view the swimmers in and under the water.

Portable River by Luzinterruptus

‘Luzinterruptus’ is an anonymous artistic group from Madrid arranging urban interventions in public spaces. Their latest project named ‘Portable River’ took place in Caracas at the ‘In the Middle of Street’, an urban festival that celebrates public space as a place of peaceful coexistence.

For this piece they filled 2.000 transparent and illuminated bags, including a small, ephemeral aquarium. They packed them and laid them at rest in contrary to the water flooded streets when raining. For one night people stopped by, sat down and admired the beauty. Their aim was to make people think about the value of this element and to bring it closer to the citizens, especially in big cities. At the end of the night bystanders could carry away the illuminated ecosystems, converting the still river into a quickly circulation around the city. Carrying the water bags like sacks of money and in the course of the current disscusion about the privatization water, it’s an even more urgent topic.

Aqua Expeditions – Boutique Hotel On The Water

The Amazon river might not sound like a luxury destination to many, but with Aqua Expeditions’ latest creation you may change your thinking. Peruvian Architect Jordi Puig created this luxe vacation spot on a 147 foot long boat that accommodates up to 32 guests plus the crew.

This quaint Amazon River cruise has all of the same essentials of any other cruise ship, only on a smaller scale. There are lounges, a jacuzzi (outdoor), a gym and dining areas in addition to the outfitted guest rooms. With an excursion to a place that many never get the chance to see, and plenty of it can be done right from your room. Though typical cruise ships hardly offer windows in plenty of the sleeping quarters – windows on this ship were designed with floor-to-ceiling views in mind.

TED Talk: Elaine Morgan says we evolved from aquatic apes

I watched this TED talk during my summer holiday. And I’ve thought about it quite some times afterwards. Even though what this elderly lady says is far from everything most people believe… Because we’ve been taught different. And scientists have proven evidence of another evolution… then she’s really interesting to listen to. Elaine Morgan has another angle on our evolution. And some of her points makes sense to me. This has made me think about what we would actually find, if archeologists could dig in the bottom of the ocean as well as they can on land. What’s really down there? What sunk and will stay hidden, maybe forever? Which truths don’t we know yet?

Elaine Morgan is a tenacious proponent of the aquatic ape hypothesis: the idea that humans evolved from primate ancestors who dwelt in watery habitats. Hear her spirited defense of the idea – and her theory on why mainstream science doesn’t take it seriously.
