Last week, visitors to the TADAO CERN studio were invited to participate in a crazy photo shoot where Lithuanian photographer Tadas Černiauskas aimed a powerful leaf blower at their faces creating some incredibly funny facial expressions.

“Everyone (and there were more than one hundred!) who dared to stand up in front of my camera lens that evening will remember this photo shoot for a long time and have an extraordinary photo in his album,” Tadas Černiauskas said.

oh! Wow! Nostalgia! Remember when we created string figures?! … but then we got mobile phones to play with instead

James R Murphy began teaching mathematics using string figures to engage students who didn’t “like” math. Students in the eighties and string, made for an unconventional recipe for these great photographs by Robin Moore.

” It was a great deal of fun for the students to “goof off” in class and make interesting designs. What they didn’t count on was that it took dedicated effort and practice to become proficient at making figures. It took a focused exactitude in performing a series of complex steps. This is exactly what it takes to become proficient at math and science.”

Photographer Pierre Chauffour created this video of extreme highline in the Verdon, “Cirque de Sordidon”.

This is what he says: “First video making experience, first highline i tried… At first, i’m a photographer, but this time i decided to film what i saw (i’m not on the video). Try standing up on a highline is not the easyest thing I did. Making my own video of this amazing trip neither.”

Reindeer is fascinating. Therefore the Norwegian Wild Reindeer Foundation commissioned a beautiful sanctuary built specifically for reindeer watching an hour north of Oslo in Dovrefjell National Park. The pavilion is designed by the local Snohetta Architects team.

This is surely innovative architecture! The London-based architecture studio dRMM created the absolutely remarkable Sliding House.

When you first lay eyes on this home, it may look like nothing more than a beautifully constructed farm house, but there is definitely more than meets the eye with this dwelling. The home features a dynamic aspect to it, allowing the residence itself to literally expand and contract providing the residents with a multitude of living environments suited to their current desires.

“The separated forms are transformed by a 20 ton mobile roof/wall enclosure which traverses the site, creating combinations of enclosure, open-air living and framing of views according to position. This is an autonomous structure; steel, timber, insulation and unstained larch spanning recessed railway tracks. Movement is powered by hidden electric motors on wheels integrated into the wall thickness.”
