A Christmas Tree Made from 5,000 Donated Ceramic Dishes and Cups in Belgium

This year in Hasselt, Belgium a pair from the design firm Mooz created this concept of an enormous tree covered in 5,000 pieces of ceramic donated from local residents. Called the “Taste Tree” the piece was meant to be a sort of communal celebration as residents were invited to contribute unused dishes to the tree that now stands nearly 30 ft. tall in Hassel’s main square.

Chicago Children’s Museum: Toy store

The number 1 gift during the holidays in the US are video games. This made Chicago children’s museum think: can kids still see the fun of something free which requires no instruction? It’s more of a simple test to see if kids still can use their imagination.

Oi: Magical Pay Phone

Oi, a telecom provider from Brazil, is hoping to make everyone believe in the magic of Christmas one more time. That’s why they created the Magical Pay Phone, a device that connected kids with Santa Claus.

Installed in Rio de Janeiro, the special pay phone was available to kids walking by with their parents. Once they made the call, the kids would chat with Santa. But it was much more than a telephone call. Big surprises were prepared for the kids: lost elves, gifts and even a mapped projection with snow and a choir of kids. Everything to make a great experience for the children and everyone watching.

Esmerelda – New single from amazing Ben Howard

The wonderful Ben Howard is out with a brand new EP through Island Records/Universal Music! The Burgh Island, it’s called – and the first single from the EP is Esmerelda.

“The four tracks that form Burgh Island EP are united in their dark, menacing, and brooding outlook. It’s a long, way from the blissful warmth of tracks such as Old Pine, Keep Your Head Up, and The Wolves that has defined Ben across British radio stations for the past 12 months”, the press release says.

Check out the EP on Spotify – or get it now on iTunes!

His former album Every Kingdom was on repeat for a month, when I got it. Listen to some of the wonderful songs from Every Kingdom here too:

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Ben Howard will play a concert on Vega in Copenhagen! It’s completely sold out – but I was lucky to get 2 tickets. So I just surprised my younger sister Freja with one of them, so she can join me. She’s a huge fan of Ben Howard too! So we’re both super excited!!

Canada Shared by Canadians – Keep Exploring

The Canadian Tourism Commission invited Canadians to capture their country on film. The resulting footage was used to create an anthemic video inviting travellers around the world to visit Canada.

I get a bit homesick watching this. Even though I just lived there for 1 year – 17 years ago, Canada still feels like home to me.
